Retirement Livery

WE ARE CURRENTLY FULL, BUT OPERATING A WAITING LIST SO PLEASE ENQUIRE IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE PLACED ON THIS.

Down a country lane in Kent and being a working farm we can offer your horse/pony a lovely place to spend their retirement years. We can also offer short term facilities for those horses that may need box rest or recuperation, we are on site all day so can keep a good eye on them to make sure all going well. Can administer treatments that may be needed whilst here.

With a few stables and a covered yard your horse/pony can either be kept on his own or with others, we have 50 acres of ground for them to graze, split into manageable sized fields. We run sheep on the ground as well, as this keeps the fields well grazed and helps with any worm problems.

Our philosophy is to let retired horses go back to being just horses, with whatever help is needed to let them live comfortably. They are kept as naturally as possible letting nature keep them as they should be, living in herds . We make sure the groups get on together. Our current owners comments are all the same, saying how chilled their horses are since being with us. We are only a retirement livery not normal livery so they don't get the disturbance of others being ridden in and out all day, which can unsettle the ones that have been used to being on competiton yards for example.

Our prices start from £225 month which includes hay, bedding, basic feed, all day to day needs, foot trimming quarterly, and worming. We are here for any vet visits for vaccinations etc. Please contact us for more specific details.

In summer months 24hr turnout unless you wish for stabling at night which can be done, in Winter then will have a minimum of 4 hour turnout except in extreme weather conditions, we have one field we can use 24/7 all winter unless its ridiculously wet like this last winter has been, but with our covered yard then there is always somewhere for them to stretch their legs so they can move about as much as they like but out of the mud and rain. This has proved to be very successful especially with the  weather experienced in the last couple of winters ! They have ad lib hay so can constantly keep their tummies happy, so less risk of ulcers and colic. We now have a chipped area too that we can use for daily turnout.

We are now using Simple Systems feed, with some of our retirement liveries already on this we have researched and decided it works very well especially for the older horse who may have problems chewing and digesting ordinary feeds, they are happy to discuss your horses requirements with you and tell you the best diet. Look on our links page for website. All other diets can be catered for. Visiting is by prior arrangement as being a working farm we are busy on a day to day basis with all aspects of farming, so we ask that you let us know the day before you wish to visit then we will get your horse/pony into a stable for you ready.

We know how important your horse/pony is to you so will do our best to keep them as happy and peaceful as we can.
